Lord Shiva on hearing this ridicules Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma is angered by the ridicule and asks his son Daksha to procreate and Sati is born. Sati through intense meditation gains the attention of Lord Shiva, who falls in love with her and marries her. But Sati’s father Daksha insults Lord Shiva in front of her. Sati who is unable to bear the insults hurled at her beloved, throws herself into a fire. This greatly angers Lord Shiva who in his anger beheads Daksha.
